Kate Pentland, Director
My name is Kate Pentland and I am delighted to be the new Director here at Canal Town Nursery School.

I grew up in Marion, New York and am a graduate of Marion High School.  I completed my undergraduate degree in Childhood Education from SUNY Oswego and my Masters in Literacy at the University at Albany.  While living in the Albany area I taught Pre-School to three and four year olds and went on to teach AIS Reading and Math to students in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6.
Recently my husband and I moved back the area where we bought our first home and welcomed our first child, Keira Marie. She is now 16 months old and a huge bundle of energy!
I truly enjoy the journey of watching young children grow and become active learners in this world!

When Iím not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, running, snowboarding, and kayaking.

I look forward to a fantastic and fun school year!

Denitha Pruitt, UPK Teacher
My name is Denitha Pruitt and I am thrilled to teach Canal Town Nursery Schoolís first UPK class. I am dedicated to make this program a success for the students involved as well as for parents and the Nursery School.

I grew up in Port Gibson attending Newark School District. I graduated with my Bachelors degree in Childhood/Middle childhood Inclusive Education and English Literature; I am currently attending SUNY Geneseo for my Masters in Literacy Birth-12.  I have worked in Palmyra as a Swim instructor for the past two years as well as completed my Student Teaching in the Primary school.

At home my time is spent with my three year old son; sharing a passion for books and reading we can be found reading, singing and playing together as well as spending time running around outdoors with our Golden Retriever.

I cannot wait to help guide these early learners in their Preschool adventure of fun and friends while preparing for Kindergarten.

Lisa Perry
My name is Lisa Perry, and I'm excited to be teaching at CTNS this year! CTNS has been a big part of my life for awhile now; as a board member, substitute, aide and of course, a mom!

Before coming here, I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary/Early Childhood Education from SUNY Fredonia, where I met my husband. We moved to Palmyra when he got a job teaching in the district, and fell in love with the village! I taught for two years at a private school in Fairport, until we found out I was expecting our first child. I've been at home with them ever since! Elizabeth is now in 4th grade, Katie in 1st, and Ricky is in the 4 year old program at Canal Town.

Aside from helping with homework and cutting out shapes from class, I helped found the Newark-Palmyra chapter of the MOMS Club, am an active member in La Leche League, and love to knit (albeit not very well!), read, learn sign language, and try to learn to play my guitar!
